The station was started when SARS-CoV-2 began spreading and our traditional, community dances had to stop. Our dances usually use live music so suddenly all these musicians lost that source of income.

This is music primarily for contra dance, English country dances, celidh, waltzing, and any other traditional, community dance style that uses live music.

Many organizations were listing donation links for musicians, but I wanted a radio station that was two-way: the musicians give a bit to the listeners, and the listeners give a bit back to the musicians. It also works as a way to remind dancers to give in a way that a donations page can’t.

The station is wholly run by Bob Peterson, who is also a contra dance caller.
